Alassane Ouattara’s investiture speech

Here is a link to watch Ouattara’s speech in Yamoussoukro yesterday. Starts around the 4:30 mark.

Good speech, focused on reconciliation in Côte d’Ivoire. He highlighted some parts of his plan for the next five years: rebuilding the education system, unifying the armed forces, setting up gender equality…

The ceremony itself was a success, with the attendance of key members of the internatinal community, and a good organization.

What bothered me was the excessive cheering for France. I understand that France intervention was decisive in removing Gbagbo from the presidential palace, but some parts of France role in Côte d’Ivoire today may remind the dark “Francafrique” stories.
