I read “The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears” by Dinaw Mengestu a couple of years ago, and loved it. The novel narrated the American lives of two Ethiopian immigrants, and their struggle with integration in Washington DC.
All Our Names came out 6 years later. The novel intertwines two stories: one set up in the mist of political repression in Uganda in the 70’s, the other one set in post-segregation in America. Touches on the issues of racism, identity, and integration.
I highly recommend it.
